The last pictures I took in 2017.

Driving long distance is always an opportunity to reflect and disconnect. If I am traveling alone I feel this sense of freedom. If I am with the kids, as I was this day, they're normally passed out in their seat. I try to enjoy the landscapes as much as possible... from behind my wheel. Landscapes that are the same, but never look the same. I was not thinking about 2018. Or its promises or desires. And all I could think about 2017 was that I survived. And that in a blink of an eye, my year went from January 1st, 2017, to December 31st, 2017. And yes - I thought, a lot, of how my December 31st 2016 ended and how my January 1st began. But that day, I only wanted one thing. To make it home. Be with my family. Eat and drink. Nothing crazy. *************** I stopped and took these few pictures near Ellensburg, WA. It is almost against photographer's rules to not stop when you know you have to. Paty ♥
